Fishing / Nature Watching |
Here at Emu Creek Extreme Retreat, we like to mix and share with the flora and fauna, that’s why most of us go to the bush. We have 7 species of Wallaby, including the Endangered Brush Tail Rock Wallaby that lives in the rocky cliff and cave areas. These wallabies can be seen grazing around some camp areas at night and will steal your bread and food. There are Goannas, Dingos , Qualls and Eagles for carnivorous species as well as your usual Mix of Australian Snakes and Reptiles. The sky aflutter and the valleys in song, from the abundant bird species that find a home here. Turtles and a healthy creek ecosystem supporting Platypus, fish, eels and shrimp and most can be found within the camping areas. There are Koalas and some say Emu, but I have not seen one yet. That has yet to be added to the list. One customers swears he saw a black panthers, and that will need a second spotting.
Fishing wise, the drought has knocked things around and creek flows have not aided spawning or migration. It is catch and release t the moment unless you want to eat eel which is abundant. Fishing is in the creeks and dams on the property or a short drive will have you at many Clarence river Fishing spots. There are also many other great fishing locations within an hours drive of the park.
Emu Creek's tributaries have had gold and for keen hunters, the search and panning can be done on the property.
